1 + 1 Video app is a new project, which the 1 + 1 Media company has developed in cooperation with Lampa Studio. The 1 + 1 Video platform provides access to the company’s huge library of media content, as well as online broadcasts of favorite Ukrainian TV channels. From now, with the 1 + 1 Video mobile app, all this content available in the convenient form on smartphones and tablets.
At the design stage of the application for Android and iOS the main task assigned to the team was the creation of a clear and predictable user experience within the application. At the same time, the project had to be impeccable technically, as well as flexible for any changes and scale in the future.
That is why among other things the team decided to implement a dynamic API structure into the project. This allows the team of editors flexibly adjust the structure of the application to changing requirements. Also, MVP was chosen as an architectural pattern.
Among the basic functions of the app are HLS broadcasts and VOD playback support. Thus, more than 10 TV channels are available in the app in the maximum quality, e.g. 1 + 1, 2 + 2, PLUSPLUS, TET, UNIAN etc. In addition, all the TV series and shows of the 1 + 1 channel library are also in the application. To play all that content a fully customized video player has been developed.
Other convenient features for users are the ability to adjust the quality of the videostream automatically or manually, two color modes (day and night) and multilingual.
Another interesting aspect during the development was the integration of Google’s IMA (Interactive Media Ads) advertising platform. Thanks to it, it became possible to play ads with various functional features, including skipping videos and the ability to go to the advertiser’s website.
Traditionally, the functionality of Google Firebase analytical platform has been also integrated and configured within the project.
Currently the 1+1 Video application is available in the Play Market. The release of the application for the iOS platform is planned in the nearest future.
